Japanese Self Defence Force Boeing 747-400, 20-1101, visited Manchester on June 12, 1996. The aircraft made one touch 'n' go on '24',
followed by a full-stop landing. After 20 min. holding on the taxiway the aircraft departed to Gatwick as 'JAF 1101'. The aircraft arrived
from Lyon, France, where it had transported representatives for the 'G7' Conference. The Manchester visit was a training exercise
in preparation for the forthcoming Japanese State Visit to London, later in the year: Manchester being the diversionary airport. |
