Nimrod development
aircraft, XV147, is pictured outside the Woodford Flight Sheds in
July 1968. This Avon-engined powered
prototype, which had been converted from a Comet 4C airframe on
the Chester assembly line, had made its first flight
one year earlier, on July 31, 1967 and was used mainly as an avionics
