Approaching
Middleton Sands from the South: the long stretch of beach runs from
the Lune estuary (bottom of picture) to Heysham
nuclear power station and harbour (top left). Until the no-fly exclusion
zone was put in place around the country's nuclear stations,
Middleton Sands was a popular day-out for many North-West aviators,
